6 Ways to Streamline Your Consultant Company

Growth and profit are always at the top of a consultant manager’s wish list. However, to get there, you need efficient and well-constructed internal processes within the company. Here are six ways to help you succeed.

1. Skills Searchability

How fast can you find out who has sufficient knowledge in .Net and Angular JS while simultaneously having experience from the banking industry? Being able to search and quickly find the right skills within the consultant company instead of going through a Word document or asking around is vital and will streamline your day to day work.

Also letting the consultant view and find other co-workers based on skills creates greater teamwork and better consultants. It is a win-win for your business.

2, Updated Consultant Profiles

Why are your consultant profiles not updated? Is it because consultants find it boring to do? Or are there too many copies of the profiles to keep track of them all?

You should instead let each employee have their own skills account that is both easy and fun to update. When you make the information searchable for everyone in the company you also improve motivation to continuously update.

The skills account should then be the starting point for creating customized consultant profiles. It should be easy to change text, hide outdated assignments, and promote the most important skills for the assignment you are making an offer for.

The skills accounts should also be connected to consultant profiles. If a new assignment or a new skill is added, you should be able to directly choose the consultant profiles that should be updated.

 3, Utilization Planning in Real-Time

Having a clear view of utilization now and in the future is at the heart of the consultant company. As this is the case, it is crucial that all information is correct and up to date. If a contract is extended or a new assignment is added, it goes without saying that your utilization matrix should be updated automatically.

You use this as a foundation for the day to day work for sales reps./managers. People in these roles now know when an employee contract is ending, needs to be extended or renegotiated, and when it is appropriate to find new assignments. This is prioritizing done right.

4, Automated Matching of Assignments

Have you received a proposal? Let a system automatically make the first selection of appropriate candidates based on skills and availability.

5. Skills Inventory

It is crucial to have an overview of the skills you have in your company. This also makes it easy to know which skills are missing and should be recruited. If you gather your skills and compare with what your clients are looking for, it is easier to make both short and long term development plans for your employees.

Do you work on framework agreement procurement? If so, keeping an updated skills inventory is at the core of your work. This will enable you to spend time on other, more cost-efficient things.

6. More and Better Meetings

Knowing where 30 employees are geographically is not always easy. When you work as a consultant, it can feel impossible to keep track of hundreds or more colleagues.

If you have a map where people can see where everyone is located it is easier to meet employees in the same area. For your next consultant meeting, maybe you can host it closer to where your consultants are located instead of at the office? When consultants can view colleagues nearby, they are encouraged to meet in new ways.
