Gender Equality Report 2026 – The Share of Women in Sweden’s Consulting Companies

June 5, 2026 · Consulting

Written by: Mattias Loxi

For the twelfth year in a row, we have examined women’s representation in Swedish consulting firms. The study aims to raise awareness of gender equality in the industry, highlight the need to encourage more women to pursue careers in consulting, and inspire companies to take an active role in fostering a more gender-balanced work environment.

The average share of women in this year’s survey has increased to 36 percent, up from 35 percent last year. This continues the positive trend we have observed in recent years. Similar figures are reported by Innovationsföretagen, the Swedish Association of Consulting Engineers and Architects,  where women account for 37 percent of employees. More and more consulting companies are taking gender equality seriously, and the results are reflected in the data.

Towards a More Gender-Equal Consulting Industry – Why This Matters

A balanced gender distribution within the workforce is an explicit goal for many consulting companies. This is not only a matter of fairness; diversity strengthens organizations. When different perspectives come together, companies gain a deeper understanding of their clients’ needs. In addition, organizations become more attractive to talent seeking an inclusive work environment.

Despite the industry’s strong demand for skilled professionals, a significant challenge remains: gender representation is still far from balanced. To encourage more women to pursue careers in IT and technology, the perception of the industry needs to be broadened. This means demonstrating that the consulting sector is an inclusive environment where everyone has equal opportunities to contribute and grow. Role models also play a crucial role. When women see other women succeeding as colleagues, experts, and leaders, it strengthens their sense of belonging and possibility.

For this reason, it is important to highlight more stories that showcase how the consulting industry contributes through exciting, meaningful, and socially impactful work—not least from a gender equality perspective.

Tracking developments in the industry

Gender equality efforts must not stop at ambitions and visions but also be followed up in practice. By continuously examining what gender equality actually looks like in the consulting industry, it becomes possible to drive real change. Cinode’s annual Gender Equality Report is our way of contributing to greater insight, highlighting developments, and sparking an important discussion.

Consulting Firms with the Highest Share of Women

Complyit (77 percent), Antrop (66 percent), and Frontit (63 percent) once again top the list, followed by BTS Group, Technogarden, and Influence – all at 58 percent. These companies lead the way in attracting female consultants. They serve as important role models and sources of inspiration for both men and women. In addition, they help highlight the need for more women in the industry.

Gender-balanced consulting firms

The title and the right to display the “Gender-Balanced Consulting Firm” badge are awarded to consulting firms with a female representation of between 40 and 60 percent. This year’s survey shows that 15 consulting firms fall within this range, each with at least 40 percent women—an increase from 14 firms last year.

Boards – Tyréns stands out

In the survey, Cinode also examines the composition of company boards. A standout finding this year is Tyréns, whose board is composed of as many as 90 percent women. At the same time, an increasing number of consulting firms now have a female majority on their boards. This year, as many as seven consulting firms fall into this category, which is a record.

The average share of women on boards remains in line with last year’s figure of 33 percent, but overall there is a positive trend among a growing number of companies.
